SAVE
SUFFOLK LIBRARIES
Here is a selection of 'Save Suffolk Libraries' logos. The original
black and white version is designed to be used in large and small
formats and can be changed in colour and adapted for various uses. This
is intended as a copyright-free graphic resource for anyone involved in
the grass-roots movement to retain all public libraries in the county
provided, funded and managed by Suffolk County Council. (SCC
is the library authority which is legally obliged to provide a
"comprehensive and
efficient library service" under the 1964 Public Libraries &
Museums Act. The free access to bookstock is at the centre of this
provision.)
It is hoped
that it will help to give an
indentification and a cohesion to the efforts of the many campaigners
and volunteers who are working hard to oppose 'divestment' of / funding
cuts to our public libraries in
Suffolk. The huge
SCC Tory majority voted this through on Thursday 15 December 2011:
it really is happening,
no matter what you read in the press. If you
don't particularly care for the logo, please design your own. As long
as the message gets across.
